WHERE DOES SICKNESS
COME FROM?
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy
Ghost and power: Who went about doing GOOD, and healing
all that were oppressed by the DEVIL." (Acts 10:38)
We can plainly see from this Scripture, that Jesus,
Who is the "express image of God's Person"
(Hebrews 1:3), did good to and healed those that were
sick, proving that God the Father does good, and wants
people healed. Where did the sickness come from? This
Scripture says it is an oppression from the devil.
"And ought not this woman, being a daughter of
Abraham, whom SATAN hath bound, lo, these eighteen years,
be loosed on the sabbath day?" (Luke 13:16)
This woman Jesus was talking about had a "spirit
of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together,
and could in no wise lift up herself. And He laid His
hands on her: and immediately she was made straight
and glorified God." (Luke 13:11,13) Think about
how cruel satan is, to make this woman drag herself
around for eighteen years, with her nose practically
dragging the ground. Again, we see plainly that satan
had caused this woman's sickness, and Jesus caused her
to be well again. Our loving Father God wants the same
thing for us, His children! Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus
Christ, the SAME yesterday, and today, and forever!"
Galatians 3:29 says, "And if ye be Christ's then
are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."
Jesus hasn't changed at all, and if He healed this woman,
who was a seed of Abraham, He will heal us who are the
seed of Abraham!
Jesus said this in John 10:10, "The thief cometh
not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I
am come that they might have life, and that they might
have it more abundantly." Here, we see without
a doubt where evil, including sickness, comes from.
Satan, through sickness, will eventually kill, steal,
and destroy our lives, if we let him. This Scripture
is called by many theologians, "the dividing line
of the Bible." It plainly tells us that anything
that steals, kills, or destroys our lives comes from
the thief, satan. Anything that brings abundant life
is from God. There is NOTHING good about sickness! It
steals valuable time from us, and causes pain and suffering,
not only for us, but for our loved ones.
Much of the teaching that God is either giving us sickness,
or allowing sickness to come us to teach us to be better
Christians, comes from the Old Testament. It does say
in places that God brings evil on people. But we have
to remember that the Bible is PROGRESSIVE revelation.
The men who wrote the Old Testament were not born again,
and didn't know the God of love that is revealed by
Jesus in the New Testament. They weren't, for the most
part even aware that satan existed! He is mentioned,
only in passing, a few times. So naturally, they attributed
evil things that happened to them to God. But, dear
friend, if we want to know what God is like, we need
to look into the "perfect law of LIBERTY,"
the New Testament." Jesus said, "He that hath
seen Me, hath seen the Father," and all we EVER
see Jesus do is to go about doing good and healing,
up to the day He performed the untimate healing by dying
for us on the cross!
Brothers and Sisters, when we are believing that God
is putting sickness and other calamities on us so we
can be better Christians, we are fighting on two fronts.
We need to channel all our massive spiritual firepower
that comes with the NAME OF JESUS on our enemy, realizing
that if God loved us SO much to die for us, and make
us His very own children, it is NOT His will for us
to be sick, because "...by Whose (Jesus') stripes
ye were healed!" (1 Peter 2:24).
